Today I am well and truly feeling crappy and hungover because J's friend Tony felt the need to cheer me up with Black Russians last night. Why did I need cheering up you ask? A drunk driver crashed into my parked car's open door and I am the one who got the ticket for my door being open in oncoming traffic. The drunk dude told the cop he had had 5 beers and 5 shots of Jaeger last night, but then after a lengthy ticketing process for ME proceeded to pass his field sobriety test. So the drunk got off scott free, my insurance will be paying for the minor damages to his 2005 Mustang, and my poor little '96 Camry sits, door unhinged, in the lot of what may be the somewhat less than reputable tow truck man named Joe. There's all these side issues of the drunk being a city streets and san employee and this is Chicago ... but I've decided that my cop last night wasn't morally bankrupt and simply a realist. In the end, I don't think he thought that the guy would get convicted in court anyway and was trying to save us all the hassle of a drawn out court process. The cop at one point took me aside and said that the guy is totally willing to pay my damages if we all just walk away. Cop didn't say I should do it, but he wanted me to have it as an option since he was going to have to write ME the ticket. But then again the cop waited a good two hours after the incident to give the guy his sobriety test so... who the hell knows. But the cop was right when he said that either way, I was the one that was going to come out the loser. Basically, I'm glad to be alive because I was standing right next to the open door he hit. It could have been me, so why freak about the money, justice, life ain't fair side of this. I'm alive. And since I obviously couldn't DRIVE anywhere last night, I bowled and was plyed with copious amounts of alcohol and now pay for it.

"Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?" - Ernest Gaines

We would like to know who really believes in gay rights on livejournal. There is no bribe of a miracle or anything like that. If you truly believe in gay rights, then repost this and title the post as "Gay Rights". If you don't believe in gay rights, then just ignore this. Thanks.

My first ever post in MY livejournal rather than a comment in someone else's and this is it. Of course, wily_one24 would hit on something that pops my posting cherry.
